One of our leaders (Phil Wright) is a Kier employee and had organised a visit to a local construction site. Kier are currently building a school purpose built for children with Autism. Phil is the Engineer on site so arranged for the group to be shown around the building. The group walked to the site from our meeting hall.
Every young person was given a hard hat and hi-vis jacket. Phil then gave us a tour of the partially built school, explaining each room and asking the young people questions about their thoughts on how a school is built. They really enjoyed learning about the process of building a bathroom/toilet.
After the tour the young people put up the bird boxes they had made.
Thank you to Phil Wright and Kier Construction for a wonderful day.
